Early Childhood
2-8 years

Early intervention and therapy during this stage focuses on enhancing child development across all areas including communication, mobility, learning, independence and social-emotional skills.  The first step in intervention, therapy and service planning is to understand what’s meaningful for you, your child and family.  This involves information gathering from you and others involved in your child’s care.  In addition, the therapy team will conduct assessments, which can be structured, or observational.  This information is used to set goals that are relevant to real-life activities and will facilitate your child participating in activities that are most important to them.  These goals may be achieved within a short timeframe, or they may be steppingstones towards longer term goals.
